It’s Coming! Soon!
My second book is finished, edited and ready for printing at the Publisher. It will be out in September of this year. I am sooooo excited!
FOOTES CREEK is a golf course mystery/thriller that takes place at a prestigious old boy country club in New Jersey. A series of grisly murders brings Ed McSorley, the local police chief, out of the depression he is experiencing after the death of his beloved wife. The story involves members and employees of the club and the local police. It is a riveting behind-the-scenes thriller with a beautiful love story woven in. There is change and renewal in this book.
My background for writing FOOTES CREEK is immense and intense. I have played golf for most of my life. I was chair of a Ladies Golf Association at a member-owed club in New Jersey. I played many of the famous old courses in New Jersey including Baltusrol and Plainfield. I was on the Board of Directors of The First Tee of Brunswick County, NC, now The First Tee of Coastal Carolina. I wrote a golf column (Golf Gab) for the Brunswick Beacon for 16 years and won several awards with my writing.
My dream was always to write a golf course mystery novel and now I’ve done it! I wanted my readers to see the inner workings of a famous old club. I wanted them to see how the Green Crew Operates. It’s not just cutting grass and raking traps. There’s a whole science involved in maintaining a golf course and many of the Superintendents have advanced degrees.
Golf Course memberships can be complicated. One does not pull up to Augusta National and ask to become a member. Are memberships inherited? Can anyone join? Is it expensive?
Both golfers and non-golfers will enjoy FOOTES CREEK. I can hardly wait until it comes out. In the meantime, I’ll keep you posted on the progress.
